This is a step by step guide to help you to fix the beeping problem of your smoke detector
If your smoke alarm is beeping every 30 seconds or so, there are big chances that is time to replace it or change the battery.
It all depends on the model.
Many apartments still have the original one (with no back up battery) and if that's your case, the solution is to get a new one.
To learn if you have the original one, please remove it from the ceiling.
Step 1:
Twist the alarm in order to detach it.
NOTE: In some cases, there might be a pin on one of the sides, if that's the case, just pull it out.
Step 2:
Once you have detached it, disconnect the cables from the back of it by pressing the sides of the plastic plug and pulling off.
Step 3:
- Change battery or Buy a new one -
If your smoke alarm comes with a battery backup, the beep could be a way to let you know it's time to replace it.
- If your smoke alarm doesn't come with a battery backup, the only way to fix the beep is by replacing it with a new one.
- If that's the case, we recommend you to get the
KIDDE i12040aca model.
